Addiction
After all of these years why do you still knock at my door? Your smile appears sincere, but we both know you want more. You are the wolf and I am your prey, I resist and resist you Whilst you sit and entice me, patiently awaiting the day, For that moment; no matter how brief, when I battle to breathe You rise. You arrive. The happiness thief! Your thoughts they invade mine, relentless in their aim I fight and dispel you, “I’ve moved on from where we came!” Temptations surround me, secrecy is the key I want to give in… … but I want to be free! This battle is real; there are scars in my head. Do I have another drink… …Return again to living dead. I want to be sure, the resolve is all mine “I have got this!” I shout, “I will not go back in time!” For time is a healer, it has to be As one day I assure you, I will really be free. Released. Not forgotten. But certainly dead I will triumph! You will fade away… …like the scars in my head
