My Time On Shore
My time on the shore Along the edge of the shore there are no footprints nor are there bits of driftwood from lost voyages just the dunes behind and the horizon bedding down It’s been this way now since I first set my eyes on it. If there is no turbulent storm it will all be here tomorrow I wish that I will be here gathering up my thoughts Perhaps scan the edge of the waters to judge the visibility and distance of how far to the other side , if there is one. ……………….. ocean gazing is unlike star gazing, Time does not matter on this shore or upon those dunes or out on the water’s drifts or just about anywhere nothing here is dependent upon the clock or even myself everything that happens here is constantly in motion. Like the rolling waves and rising and setting of the sun and moon Drifting winds, passing bundles of clouds, shadows changing shape, Most everything is in motion except me, just my stirring thoughts are spiraling What will become of this pristine shore when my footprints become erased? ……………..... nature cleanses itself, restoration and preservation is prime I cannot specifically say the shoreline will remain the same in dimension or composition as nature creates her environment that suits her the most. As I step away from my memorable view I can accept the ocean wanting to flow in to wash away my footprints and leave its shore to engulf others of its beauty. Its like the ‘etch a sketch’ tablet which you erase what you have printed leaving a clean slate for others to leave their markings in which they too will erase. Nature does not belong to us; it enhances our surroundings with its decorations It strives to survive and become vital to promote its natural wonders for us. …………………. tread lightly upon the earth, leave what is not yours Such a pity to destroy its recognition that cannot be restored to its formal attire. What nature has put on the table is there for us to preserve for the future, not to be eaten. If one takes of its belongings then others will follow to have a memorable token But over time the vista is subjected to lack of treasures that nature once provided. We value gifts that were given to us for special occasions, but not those from nature. Trampling upon the sands that are the cornerstones of nature’s columns will weaken and eventually wipe out the makings of a wonderful part of our enjoyment that was meant for all to view but not to take or disrupt in vain. …………………. let nature have its privacy so that it can remain peaceful Being there along that pristine shore is like being at the symphony with its glitter and music. The harmonious sounds of the waves breaking and the wavering of the wheat colored grasses is like a piece of music played over and over and never will there be an encore. It’s that which lures us to the shore to enjoy the sights and sounds of our bonding with nature. ………….along the edge of the shore
