My hair, lank and grey Was once a shock of curls, Everybody used to say I was the prettiest of the girls. Heading for my dotage No fun left it seems, Memories though, sweet memories, I still have my dreams. And oh such dreams they are Of lovers, and romance, Not a boy could pass me by Without a second glance. And how I played the field The parties, and the balls, I dined in swanky houses, I danced in stately halls. Now here I sit alone Just pondering on my days, Have I paid the price? Yet I loved my errant ways. Entry for VERSE A FAVOURED THEME any form Poetry Contest Sponsored by Brian Strand. 8/7/2019. Placed =1st.
