Unsounded Depths
Uncanny as the truth may often be, A sailor worth his salt will quickly cede; There's more than godly made beneath the sea. Alow, where neither fish nor man can see, Obscured, the worst of Hell and Fury breed, Uncanny as the truth may often be. And whilst in foggy doldrums dire esprit, A shadowed splash the bravest heart will heed; There's more than godly made beneath the sea. Aloft, a barrelman cries the Kraken free, As beads of fear into the fathoms bleed, Uncanny as the truth may often be. And doubt belike a superstitious flea, An itch in faith, where lay a baleful seed; There's more than godly made beneath the sea Beware unsounded depths, I say to thee; At full and by with guns to bear proceed; Uncanny as the truth may often be; There's more than godly made beneath the sea
