Warnings
**-AUTHORS NOTE- This poem exaggerates to make a point. For the love of god, do not do something like this.** I’d like to take a moment to speak of great people of the past, especially George Washington, and the long shadow that he cast. the precedents he set then still confine power to his day— No! Nope! Not happening. George Washington owned slaves, and that offends me. I told your platform and they banned you for hate speech, fascist! Excuse me folks…ok, new social media site, so…were was I? On yes, Can you imagine history if he hadn’t acted this way— Damnit! I warned you, bigot! I pressured your new social media site and got you banned again. Hateful folks like you deserve no platform! One moment please…ok, now on a third site, where was I— Nope! Proactively banned from this site too! And with no hope of appeal. People like you are not part of the national conversation! Check you privilege! Excuse me again, folks. (Sound of car driving.) (Sound of doorbell.) I wonder who that could—whoa! Whoa! Who are you? Why do you have that knife? No—please, don’t hurt me! I’m begging you—HELP!!! Shut up. I’m not going to kill you, this is just a warning. Free speech exists for a reason, dumbass. It allows people to debate ideas without violence. It allows ideas to compete without warfare. It’s not just a natural right, it’s the damn pressure valve of society! And when censorious tyrants like you take it away, what option do people have left? Only violence, only force. Disagreement will never go away, so unless you want to die in a civil war, knock it hell off! The next man who comes might not feel so merciful… (Sound of sobbing.) (Sound of car driving away.) All right folks, sorry about that. What was I rhyming about? Oh yes, George Washington…
