The Circus
I know you want to go Let me get my coat and hat. I know you hate to be so late. We’re gonna miss the acrobat. Get in the car, it isn’t far You can see the tent downtown. Clap your hands, you can hear the band. The circus has come to town. I see a jamboree. The party has just begun. Find your seat, it’ll be a treat. It’s time we had some fun. Now we’re here in an atmosphere Of colors and sights and sounds. Yell a big hello to the greatest show. The circus has come to town. Over there, a dancing bear! Watch the elephants play. The lions roar, animals galore! I could sit here all day. Hold your breath, they’re defying death, Then laugh at the funny clowns. It’s wonderful, it’s a spectacle! The circus has come to town. We try to hide from the world outside. Get lost in the fantasy. In the masquerade all our troubles fade. It’s everything that we need. For a little while, all we do is smile At the sights that all astound. What do you say? We could run away! Follow them to the next town... Well, that was fun but now it’s done. Wasn’t it a great time? The crowds abate ‘cause it’s getting late. Wave goodbye to the clown and mime. Gotta go, time to hit the road But don’t let me see a frown. Never fear, they’ll be here next year. Yes, the circus will come to town.
