Hopelessly Hopeful
The mouth tingles with every drag, While weary eyes mournfully sag. Thoughts of you escape my grasp, But I never feel memories lapse. Everything that comes to mind, Is thoughts of you, of my world behind. Looking forward I have thoughts and dreams. Looking presently I’m haunted by silent screams. A song plays on the radio, always reminding, Never needed anyone before, but your presence is binding. No matter how hard I’ve tried, Or how long I’ve cried, It’s always a circling thought of you. What should I do? I’ve tried distracting myself so many times, I’m left scribbling and pushing rhymes. The wind blows harder while the mind chimes, Should I doubt myself because of past crimes? I see you so free and beautiful like always, I’m left longing for the better days. I’m optimistic about the future, I’m trying. I’m hopelessly hopeful, but my soul’s dying. Could you be bothered to even send a glance? Could it even be bothered to give us another chance?
