The Nether
I hear the echoes of the day, Resounding so peacefully and blissful. I hear every syllable you say, Still so loving and wistful. Hearing you so soothing but so haunting, As memories of the past come fluttering. Being alone has become freeing yet daunting, It has left my heart beating yet still stuttering. There is nobody else, I’d rather turn to, Nobody else that could truly see my soul. My thoughts twist with what’s false and what’s true, Though I still long for us to be whole. Most of the time, I can see clearly, A process to a better path I see. I hold onto hope so dearly, Trusting a future where you and I become “we”. Every car in the distance spurs a hope it’s you. But every car turns out to be a liar, Leaving me stranded and past due. Still I maintain hold of our fire.. Will you continue to reassure, And tell me everything is okay? A simple but effective cure, Holding my demons at bay. I sit by the window and wait as time slips, Holding the thoughts completely in my head. I can still taste the texture of your lips, Though a part of me feels dead. This path of healing and road to structure, Holding my head high as we run into the nether. Until we reach the skyline I cannot be sure, If I have you again to lovingly hold forever.
