You Complete Me
My eyes look for you My heart bleeds the truth My spirit enters your soul completely My body has gone into deep hibernation feeling numb since the day you passed My heart now frozen, devoid of love now overflows with despair How does it go on beating for you are no longer here Each day I search the sky above for our special rainbow where we vowed to meet but the skies are grey and cloudy like my cloudy mind in my cloudy head Children’s laughter permeates the air Birds still sing at dawn How dare the world keep going for they must know you have gone Floating through life in a bubble I am consumed with grief for it gobbles me up But slowly time is gently healing as my heart and soul begin to unfurl Seeing the light and the colours again gives me strength to carry on I feel your presence within me when at night your love envelopes my soul like a beautiful quilt so cosy and warm as you wrap your love around me my darling you complete me Written 23rd March 2019 1ST PLACE Contest: You Complete Me Sponsor: James Edward Lee Sr. 2ND PLACE Contest Name:YOUR CHOICE(6),any form, any theme | Sponsor: Brian Strand I found this such an emotional write because it came from my heart and was written about the loss of my husband who died in 2008. I took many years to get through my grief, but slowly it lifted and now I find that writing poetry is so cathartic and restorative and feel this poem is worthy of a Gold Cup.
