Another Child's Grave
Another new grave next to my son A mere child with so much life to give A young woman who’s life had just begun Robbed by depression of the will to live A daughter, sister, niece and friend Now fresh flowers adorn her resting place An eternal grave her parents must tend Only memories now for arms to embrace How is it possible that she didn’t know Just how much she’d be missed? How many people with love to bestow Simply looked and then dismissed? Drugs, violence, bullying to name a few Are battles that a child shouldn’t have to fight Every day should be a world anew Being filled with love, laughter and delight You’re in heaven now with no more pain But there’s many more yet here to save In all of humanity what’s more to gain Than children in need of the love they crave Who’s life will you change tomorrow And will it be for better and good? You’d understand my need for love to show If today you were where I stood You will be remembered and never alone For every day I visit this place of peace Like my child you will become my own Through that love grief might gradually cease I will see you tomorrow, Carla Gabrielle Ballesteros.
