My late, great aunt said, “Never will I lie down and let death take me; it’ll have to catch me on my feet.” She was true to her word; never said die; and sure enough, it caught her on her feet one morning, at four am after, playing cards. She was far more stubborn than death, itself. Like her, I stand firm; thirty eight years of entries and I still play every day though, I’ve never won; any sweepstakes, lottery, car or house yet; I’ll never stop, give in; I’ll never say die. Instead, some day, they’ll arrive at my door and shout, “surprise!” I hope they don’t give me a heart attack; I’d like to enjoy my win.
