I Will Come Back Johnny-I Promise
My soul hangs half alive on the barbed wired fence My body all bloody and my heart refusing to dance My mind races to the battle field The image of that dignified soldier waiting to be killed I feel his faint heart beating as my cold lips depart him with a kiss I hear my voice, “I will come back Johnny; I promise!” There is no time to stop There is a battle to be fought Out of the hundreds, a few of us make it to the borders There is no ranked officer to give us any orders My Venerable body now a river of tears In a glass building, opportunists celebrate with glasses of beers My promise to return- Johnny’s only blanket in this cold Unlike a Hollywood star, my battered body not so bold Johnny departs his suffering in a day Mine to be embraced each night and forever with me to stay My soul hangs half alive on the barbed wired fence My body all bloody and my heart refusing to dance.
