Always As One
Always As One Written: by Tom Wright 12-17-2014 As one, we’ve felt the warmth of spring, And endured the summer’s heat together; We faced each day and what it would bring, Unaware of storms we’d someday weather. Then came fall and flame became a flicker, But the vows we once made were held true. Our time now appears to hasten by quicker, And days are full of mundane things to do. Then, approaching was the winter of our span, The last hurrah before our year would end. Despite shortcomings we’ve followed God’s plan, And together, we now make plans to ascend. I ruminate now on where the excitement went, Because old age has now purloined this too; Just memories remain of once great times spent, While our years conjointly continue to accrue; Now with memory lapsing and health declining, And doctor visits becoming more than a few. In hushed morning hours once more I sit pining, While speculating, what today, might go askew.
