The Tug of War
There it goes again, disturbing the calm and quiet of my mind from its peaceful setting. The shrieking begins; my poisonous parrot shrills loud that piercing song of my doubt. My decisions come hard... always a tug of war, between negative and positive thinking. My weak inner self and that mocking parrot each takes one of my hands and pulls. I summon my support... a quiet corner, meditation, and prayer. The squawking is silenced. That negative beast is plucked from my hand, as my strong self leads me to peace again. ~6th Place~ Premiere Contest: Desire and Aversion Sponsor: Unseeking Seeker Judged: 10/11/2022 ~1st Place~ Contest: Sponsor: Brian Strand Judged: 02/14/2019 ~9th Place~ Premiere Contest: Plucking the Poisonous Parrot Sponsor: Maureen McGreavy Judged: 01/27/2019
