Overcoming Sad Christmas-Prevalence
Christmas is great bonding time for family members Enjoying love’s warmth of glowing relationship embers… Yet with Mom’s absence… as each of us remembers There were anticipated “sad Decembers.” Such painful reality was my personal struggle Compounded with work and challenges to handle Busy fulfilling varied roles and multi-tasks’ rattle… ...Christmas get-togethers are somewhat difficult to tackle. Beset with loneliness on Christmas times Missing complete family-bonding midst carol-chimes I long for joyous Christmas I had as a child… more than gifts of precious dimes Celebrating with praises for the Saviour and Emmanuel* hymn-rhymes. Having experienced forlorn… being away… during Christmas season Wrapped with grief of being alone, gripped by self-pity’s reason I strive to rejoice in the Lord Who blesses my life with pardon-bliss’ lesson Trusting Him to help me combat torturous solitude’s poison. My soul bids good bye to loathsome Christmas sadness-prevalence While I keep myself near in spirit with my family, vanquishing negligence As allowed by the Almighty along His gracious providence To become a blessing despite own burdens’ interference. *Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. December 11, 2018 8th place, "'A Sad Christmas' - December 2018 Writing Challenge" Poetry Contest Sponsored by Dear Heart; judged on 12/15/2018.
