Happiness
The Pursuit of Happiness Ultimate Declaration of Independence an 'unalienable right endowed us by the Creator' Yet, how to pursue such an intangible thing How do mere humans -- 'joy to the world' bring Where do we look for it? Where is it found? Is Happiness in the air, on the sea, underground? For whatever they're worth, here are my thoughts Wrapped in rhyme verse, just perhaps not for naught If you would be happy, help others be so That's the main point; all the rest are for show Help an old lady or man cross the street Give a poor child a nutritious meal to eat Greet one and all with a smile on your face Be it at home, out in public, or in your workplace Listen to everyone's problems as if they're your own Imagine they're royalty, perched on their throne And you a mere subject, aching to please them Their every concern yours, a bejeweled diadem Weep with them, rejoice with them Share their ups and downs Their troubles, your troubles From sun-up to sundown If they lose their job, don't you rest till they've another Their fortunes, your fortunes; you are their blood brother Make the happiness of others priority number one ~ Your life's race will surely be most happily run
