The Raindrop
One solitary raindrop lay caressing beauty with its grace. Just fallen from the sky one day, one solitary raindrop lay. How long, I wondered, could it stay upon the rose’s blushing face? One soliltary raindrop lay caressing beauty with its grace. The raindrop lingered on the rose as delicately as a kiss. So virgin-fresh, in sweet repose, the raindrop lingered on the rose. It vanished when strong wind arose. The rose had known a while its bliss. The raindrop lingered on the rose as delicately as a kiss. How like that single drop of rain was first love when it came to me! I long to be that rose again. How like that single drop of rain was first love’s kiss and first love’s pain. Rain droplets fall, then cease to be. How like that single drop of rain was first love when it came to me! Nov. 22, 2018 for The Raindrop Poetry Contest of Craig Cornish
