Creeps
Down in the dark, they patiently wait Whatever the hour, whatever the date And if it’s required to wait a bit longer They’ll service their Queen to grow ever stronger These keratin creatures will eat their own kind Rather than leaving their fallen behind They'll eat anything that’s remotely organic But if they sense ‘sweet’ they’re blindly satanic A human race claiming an intellect great Will err, which is human, and seal its own fate... They smell it, they sense it, they know it’s around And they spew from their caverns through cracks in the ground From under the bushes and over the fence Through open windows and in through the vents They drop down the chimney and crawl out of pipes Immune to our anti bacterial wipes The under sink cupboard is swarming as well And inside the fridge its like something from hell Open the microwave, they’re in there too And upstairs there’s more coming out of the loo A creeping black mass turns the lounge carpet black They swarm up the sofa and onto his back Relentless, attracted by sugary charms They split and rampage along each of his arms He’d raided the kitchen for something to eat He could have done worse than choose something less sweet For ants are indifferent to tagliatelle His fate was decided by strawberry jelly .......an end....... But in English English (and being pedantic) Two last lines for humans across the Atlantic... For ants are indifferent to Marmite and ham His fate was decided by strawberry jam
