That Sixties Chick
When did this thing happen When did I get so old I used to run like a new born lamb gamboling and romping in the open air Now sitting upon my Queen Anne chair I struggle to lift myself out of there I used to love my daily bath soaking and dreaming for hours Always saying with the greatest resolve how I really hated showers But now I need an industrial winch to lift me out of my bath Is there someone up there looking down are they having a jolly good laugh My walking gait is no better With a snail as my pacesetter I hear tutting and clucking from behind as impatient people endeavor to pass Giving sideways glances of annoyance when they eventually pass me at last Oh I hate this getting old malarkey When once I was young and fit and sparkly I am worn with pain after little exertion Growing old it sucks I can say with assertion But the other option is not a good choice So I have to settle with exerting my voice As one by one capabilities disappear For now I am even struggling to hear But in my head that sixties chick strolls down the street with sparkly feet In her Mary Quaint creation Life so full of jubilation With adventures yet to come Oh my life has been such fun Written 5th November 2018 Contest 'Brian's' Choice 2 Sponsor Brian Strand
