The Life of One Mid Century Ranch
Her walls are pastel and peaceful, Quiet, sheltering one, Beginning in the day’s garish fashion, Ugly rose beige, forest green, curtains of red. When the heart broke, the thing to do Was to paint a wall, start over anew, Though there was little left to love. Green walls turned sunshine yellow A gift from above, and then Old fashioned shag carpets disappeared, Second hand furniture changed the mood, Creamy off-white walls cheered some sadness, but How slow, how slow, how very slow to change the halls, Dark halls that ran through this personified house, ‘Til all roamed through and out with their human desires, Her walls now are pastel and peaceful, Quiet, sheltering the last one. Who will begin again the vibrant colors, Her walls are waiting for love.
