Always a Winner To Me
Just a normal American family Living, loving and makin’ memories Living everywhere and in between For a family of service was routine He served our country for thirty-plus years Means lots of time lost and lots of tears A hard working, loving man, we were all his biggest fans And I still feel him next to me He always had “two cents” to spare for me I remember him sippin’ on his favorite whiskey He’d say, “Son, don't ever quit” And even if you don’t make it You’ll always be a winner to me A winner to me These days I’m tryin’ to pass it on To my kids who are almost grown I tell’em whatever it is that you think you can’t lick The journey’s where you learn so Don't Quit Oh, don't you quit He always had “two cents” to spare for me I remember him sippin’ on his favorite whiskey He’d say, “Son, don't ever quit” And even if you don’t make it You’ll always be a winner to me Always be a winner to me He always had “two cents” to spare for me I remember him sippin’ on his favorite whiskey He’d say, “Son, don't ever quit” And even if you don’t make it You’ll always be a winner to me Always be a winner to me We were an American family Living, loving and makin’ memories
