Ash and Blood
First they bombarded the shore; but that was not enough. Clever Kuribayashi knew how to fight. Those storming the island did not expect a battle so rough. Now we will see if Kuribayashi was right. Guns battering the island made little stir. For entrenched beneath the soil the enemy soldiers were. In the night and out of the ground the enemy came. It was then the marines knew this island would not be the same. Under the force of the Imperial Empire all of Asia shook. The Land of the Rising Sun has her greedy politicians to blame. That's why after this war, the same she shall not look. On Bloody Iwo the hearts of men grew colder and colder. Will we be left standing? Our foe is tough and this island belongs to her. Upon this place of ash and blood two empires fought; who really is to blame? Guns, blades, and vehicles of war caused many to go down in flame. These events you will now hear about only in a documentary or a book. But quiet graves and scarred memories still remain. Put out now is the hell fire, and gone is all it took.
