Trip To Sheol
More awake than ever before In a Universe of Darkness! The cold grips me to my core, But without a body, shiverless. No heavenly bodies or light, Only layers of blackened fog. Then a figure appeares to the right, And moving, disturbs the bog. I am disturbed! But who am I? I don't even know my name! Who put me in this frigid sty? And why do I feel no pain? All is silent, no sound is heard, Though figures move undeterred. I am frozen, bound somehow, Why is my movement disallowed? It is a dream I tell myself, But, how can I escape it? I'll cry out to the Lord Himself, "Please, free my captive spirit!" "Sir, sir, take your temperature?" As she taps it on my teeth. I could not write my signature, 'Cause my memory's still on leave. Oh my God, the pain is back! And now I start to shiver. Because of drugs my senses lack, But at least some light - a sliver! And now I knew I did not die. The staph, it did not kill me. From the Darkest Pit, He heard my cry, And chose to give me mercy! Maybe it was all just a dream, But, man, it eclipsed those drugs! And made me stronger than I seem, In the Inner Man - that's my plug!
