I Was Going My Way
I was going my way in the morn Though shoes like my skin were well worn I whistled a song As I walked along Past the fields heavy laden with corn I was going my way still at noon Though needing a nap pretty soon I slept for a while And awoke with a smile Then went off again with a tune I was going my way through the eve As moon rose and sun took its leave I looked to the sky And thought, "Lucky am I, To see what no mind could conceive." I was going my way in the night Although the word going just might Exaggerate for my legs were too sore And no longer kept me aright I was going my way, still well known Down the side path of gravel and stone Just there up the way Where poplar trees sway Was the house in which I had grown I was going my way, when I saw My granddaughter and son-in-law Stepping from the car She said THERE you are You can't wander off like that grandpa 9.2.18
