The Broken Record
Like a broken record That keeps on skipping You keep on repeating What I've already heard So why must you repeat? Why must you bring up A mistake that I try Not to make again? I'm just doing my best To do my work to the fullest Take a little breather When an extra minute is added. So why must you keep skipping? Making the song fuzzy That it tingles my earbuds Causing tears to drop from my eyes? I'm only human I do my best At what I can do With pride in my soul To do my job to the fullest? I'm irreplacable I'm competent I'm loyal I'm invaluable I do my best To avoid my mistakes Writing down to keep in mind So it doesn't happen again? But why bring up the past? If it'll just break my pride To cause tears to flow like a waterfall? Don't you know how much it hurts my soul? Can't you see the hidden sorrow That I wear behind a mask? Shed with a happy smile To hide the frown behind As I masquerade the happy worker. All I ask is find The glue of understanding To fix your broken melody And let the song play forth So we can listen to the harmony Of a melody toward the tomorrow.
