He showed His stars to Abraham, the grains of San by the sea, And promised him He’d be a father to, as many born to him as these. And through His seed, a holy bloodline, the Promise to be would come, The eternal Lamb, One Sacrifice, His One and Only Son. He showed His devoted Abraham who waited and believed, the son who was his promised child, the one finally conceived. Abraham rejoiced, along with beautiful Sarah his once doubtful impatient wife For the child of promise, many nations to follow God would now ask for his life. Give me your son, son that you love, as a living sacrifice, Upon an alter I have prepared, your obedience to me, the price. And now the heart of a father’s love, was torn to his soul I am sure, to give to God his promised son one born of love so pure. But the hand of God prevented him, Abraham! Touch not the child, And God provided a ram in the brush trying Abraham’s heart the whole while. Now I have seen your faithfulness, not withholding your only son, the son of your promise, dear son that you love, Your only begotten one. And now you will know the heart of your God, For neither will I withhold mine, For as my only Son is given to you, you gave, not withholding thine.
