Talent Less
Talent less I wanted creativity to be my companion, So I picked up a pencil to draw. I found this harder than I could imagine, The strokes of my talent were flawed. I sang in a band in high school, In front of the mass at assembly. My voice was a screech and I acted the fool, The embarrassment so clear it still haunts me. I loved to boogie and strut on the dance floor, But I was such an uncouth head banger. I’d jump and I’d pump and make my neck sore, Thinking this will make the girls clamour. I was a natural actor and was given lead roles, At school and loved the attention. Prancing around quoting Shakespeare in the halls, Until my insecurity placed me in detention. I was confident and smart but something was wrong, To this day I’m not sure what. My spirit was stolen by the bottle and a bong, All too easy to forget what I’m not. One thing I did was give One Hundred Percent, At any endevour I chose. I wish I knew then what the word addict meant, As my personal growth just froze. So here I am writing words down for fun, Sounding out simple similes without hesitation. I guess my creative juices have come, Finally flowing freely, filling me with alliteration.
