However, its dynamic impact is felt when read with animated vibrancy, bringing to life the encoded thoughts. Said pursuit is done by poem-writers with their language devices in expressing their messages, and articulating their ideas. They achieve such through the aid of meter and rhythm, which are vital attributes of a poem. A poet who is considered as a word-artist paints with passion, power, precision, and patience thru a perspective toward a purpose: the creation of a masterpiece – a poem in its best form. Like an engineer who in constructing an edifice uses accurate measurement, the poet, too, “measures” the words he uses with precision. Hence, he thinks and reflects (brain and heart efforts are exerted here) of the right and exact word that fits a line and in this endeavor, syllable count is important. It is because syllables help in the production of rhythm, the “regular rise and fall in the flow of sound in speech.” Inspired and illumined, the poet, (in my case, driven by my faith in God), guarded by poetry guidelines… plunges into the depths of heart’s revelation, then optimizing words' functional dominance, enlivens his art.
