The Victor
Bruised and battered, her face a mask of fear, she ran into the night, away from evil, and the man who would take her life. Her pain and anguish hidden in the darkness as she ran... her heart pounding.....her breath visible in the cold night air. She found a place to hide... and there, she knelt down in the deep brush and waited. She cried softly as she felt her baby move. She wondered, would GOD save her and her unborn child from the madness, or would he find her first, and drag her back for "more".... she tasted blood and tears, her lip swollen and cut... she crouched lower into the bushes... afraid, and trembling. She said a silent prayer, "God, please don't let him be the victor, for his hands are tools of evil, used to hurt the innocent...his heart is filled with darkness. Let me be the victor, and let my baby live, and keep him from me now and forever"..... She finished her prayer, and wiped at her eyes... suddenly she heard footsteps in the gravel road near her... she shook uncontrollably.. as she held her breath.....the footsteps became softer.... she watched from the bushes, as he searched for her, cursing.......not finding her... until at last he was gone. Yes, she was truly the Victor........ he was the defeated one.
