Making Me Number One
Making me number one 18/07/2018 It came to me slowly... very, very slowly... How best to show my love for my boys, Stop buying their love with a plethora of toys. Time together is time well employed, Discovering pastimes we all can enjoy. This sounded so easy when I said it to myself, Harder to enact with an empty heart on the shelf. Yes an accident had robbed me of my health, But to not enjoy their company, hurt more than anything else. I was lost in pain, drowning in opiate daze, Unwilling, unhappy, unable to change. My body bent, my mind in a haze, 6 years later its no longer a faze. There was a price for treating myself this way, I just didn’t know it was my kids who would pay. So I made a promise I have kept to this day, I will give the pills, the booze and cigarettes away. Over the next Four years I have worked on myself. I’ve retrieved my crushed heart from the dusty old shelf. I swim and I gym and look after my health, And I spend time with my boys over anyone else.
