My Maiden Fair
My Maiden Fair ‘Tis a distant memory, far from what I may remember In a cold deep darkness, in winters long lost December Some forgotten farewell, lost, encasing his very soul Where many a tale, true or perhaps mystical be told Many battles rage, though these struggles be not mine Lost many brethren I have, in uncounted struggles divine My mind falls into a prism, lost within my maiden fair Till the day comes, within all the lands finds no despair Traveling with my tattered, adrift, battle weary band Carrying home with the still and dying eyes of every man Though my mind find a better time, lost within the eyes Of my maiden fair, and of the love that symbolize Long ago, and so very far away As I travel into darkness, dismay Longing for, perhaps one last kiss For a lost warrior, no tears amiss Looking up at the vast and wondrous sky, this lost nigh Each burning breath he takes, soon he will die Fleeting, the last beat of his heart, last gasp for air Smiling, as if he were looking into the eyes of his maiden fair
