Really funny so far, right? I stopped because I smelled something odd in the ditch It was a long-ago-dead raccoon. We live in the country, But this is not something we get to see every day. The raccoons are usually alive, on the front porch, eating the cat food. I tripped over a twig and went sprawling, landing on both hands And a knee, luckily not the one I injured four years ago. I found a couple of beer cans a passing car must have thrown out last night And then I heard the laughing. But where was it coming from? I stayed perfectly still and it stopped. Took a step, and heard it again. Looked up high in my walnut tree where a big fat crow sat. “You are really funny!” he said to me. “I liked the way you looked around After you fell on yourself. It was hilarious!” Caw Caw Caw Caw He was chuckling away about it, which I thought was quite rude, So I told him so. Expected an apology but never got one. Crows are the first ones to be angry if you make fun of them, But funny thing is, it’s okay for them to dish it out. “Go home,” I told him. “Shoo! Shoo!” he thought this was insanely funny.
