The Little Pussycat
The little pussycat I’m just a little pussycat I stretch and yawn and purr I laze around the fireside And groom my silky fur I sit upon my mistress lap And let her stroke my head Give a little meow So she knows I must be fed When the night time comes along I sit there by the door I hear the sound of silence And it’s time to go explore When I’m out upon the street I spit and fight and scowl No longer just a pussycat I’m a panther on the prowl I hide amongst the shadows Where it’s really hard to see And chase away the other cats Within my territory I arch my back and stand up tall And never show no fear I howl like a werewolf Whenever they come near With mouse in mouth I head back home When the birds begin to sing My mistress then will open the door And I try to sneak it in No, no, no, not again I’ll hear my mistress scream In exchange for the dead old mouse She’ll give me a bowl of cream Then I’ll settle by the fireside Contentedly I’ll purr While away the daylight hours Wash my paws and fur I’ll stretch and yawn take a nap Scratch along the mat My mistress is so proud of me I’m her little pussycat
