Growing Old Together
When all our chores are done When the last bell has been rung When our days are diming and our hair is greying When so much of what we've known is now decaying. When life is a beautiful song, and the last race has been run. When we have stood strong, fought our battles and won. When our bones are getting bristle, our muscles are flabby, our walk is unsteady and shabby, and we become hard of hearing. When we start to remember the good old days and start tearing, and I recall my first dog Jack, my first friend Dennis, and our first date. When every ill-conceived plan waged against us have been defeated. When we have discarded things once treasured but now no longer needed. When our assets exceed our debts and our defects. When we recline, relax, rest, and enjoy the sunsets. When we cease to jump and run and resort to merely slow walking. O my dear, together we'll be holding hands, smiling, and talking about things we spoke a lot about when we were energetic and much younger. Having grown older now, more than ever, we lean on each other's shoulders. 05302018cjPSoup 46th Anniversary
