Ions
“Ions” The ocean is my galaxy. Like the infinite expanse of space and sky, Those seas sustain astounding life in varying degrees Of depth and rebirth. Similar waves of ions rush across the heavens And swim determinedly to some unknown destination That they may not see or hear, yet know, From some centuries old pre-determination. Radiant life forms wend their way Through invisible currents, While newborn rays stream into obscure shadows Illuminating the life silently secreted away eons ago. All life intermingles… Carrying with it traits one from the other Until melded into one immense explosion of light. Once again, before the fringe of night overtakes me, I soar through the heavens, And ride the crest of that final, insidious wave. I am at Home … in the sea, As much, as when anxiously exploring the stars. We are a part of each other – The seas, the stars and I. Yes, we are all on our way to somewhere… Swimming, backpedaling, at times, or languishing over an otherwise inviting plea, We pursue our uncertain path in one mystifying voyage after another, Knowing all the while, and, without regret, That God only knows … our final destination...
