Maybe, April Maybe, May
Dear April, Once again, your time is almost at its end. I’ve got to say this time round’ the Sun with you hasn’t been the best- Which, I know may be disappointing to you. You’re intended to bring family together for the hunting of Easter eggs, and the celebration of Poetry. You open the doors to Spring. But, this year... On Easter I was alone, mourning my brother and my best friend’s wife. I’ve been remarkably uninspired. Perhaps, just overwhelmed. And I’m cold- My roses haven’t found their color. April, you’re still dear to me. I don’t blame you. There is no one, no thing, no time to blame. I’m just hoping for a May that is bright and full of warmth. Maybe, May will help me find some balance. Maybe, May will help me become a little closer to the Sun again. And I can walk outside to bright red roses, knowing that life’s ability to adapt lives inside of everything, including myself. Maybe, April. When we meet again. We can treat each other a little better. Farewell, my friend. -James Kelley 2018
