What A Pity
The horizon bleeds ruby-red rubicund blood, above which a sanguine moon ascends with regal splendor. Her pockmarked face aglow, She slowly rises like a Chinese lantern. Dusk descends as a ghostly specter, creeping ever so softly, shuffling shadows in the night. Ebony silhouettes inked by darkness merge into one canvas, a collage of darkening shades of black. The cosmos is hidden behind blinding city lights, its beauty lost in its totality! Yet the heavens twinkle as trillions of glittering stars confirm their reality before morphing into fantasy. The universe is breathtakingly mind-blowing, inspiring the world's greatest artists to capture its light. And yet, so many living in today's cities have never seen the stars, they're just something they've observed in a movie or a book. What a pity! (Free Verse) 4/26/2018
