The Flight
While walking out my door one night The hour was quite late The sky was dark, no moonlight showed T'was black, as black as slate Yet, looking through the darkness Of this silent, satin night From somewhere just beyond the edge A flame, a candlelight? I sat alone and reminisced About our long, yet loving life About my role as husband And yours of loving wife A gentle waft of air that caused A flutter in the night It was as if upon that breeze An Angel took to flight It seems like it was yesterday I boldly walked you home Then thought about the loving times Spent with you, all alone I spoke into the darkness Even though, we were alone Yet there upon that whispered breeze A sound spoke back, unknown And yet at night, no one to hear Your silent breaking heart Soft tears slid down upon your cheek Wet kisses in the dark A cry of pain escaped your lips Broke through the silent night While Angels then prepared you For your dark and silent flight As morn began its' gentle break A voice from up above? Yea!, tis today I called for you To tell you of my love Come home to me, God spoke to her No more you'll suffer pain He'll hold your love within his heart Until you meet again!
