After I have been their friend for a while, betrayal often comes with a snide smile that places the blame squarely upon me. Defending themselves with lies, they cut the bonds of friendship. The ones I loved the most hurt me the most, shielded by trust; they took me by surprise; for I had craved their names into my heart.
