On the 22nd of August 10 years ago, My happy healthy life took a life changing blow. Such physical pain no one should ever know, But In a way what’s worse is the mental anguish to follow. I used to say the old Jeff died on that day. I deserved the pain as a price I must pay. A reasonable mind keeps these thoughts at bay, I didn’t want to live and thought I’d always feel this way. Time heals all wounds, don’t give up the fight. At the end of the tunnel is always some light. Mind crueled by drugs these thoughts I would fight. I could barely go on try as I might. Enveloped by the uglyness you feel on the inside, You physically Manifest this now on the outside. This contemptible wretchedness you cannot hide, Believe me because you know that Ive tried. Opiates eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner, They erode at your soul and you feel like a sinner. Dissolving your pain and making you strut like a winner, Your teeth will soon rot and you’ll become so much thinner. Constant pain is a hard thing to swallow, But Drug addiction is not the path to follow. Your heart and soul become empty and hallow, Your pain will still be there when you wake up tomorrow. Keep putting one foot in front of the other, Live each day well, there may not be another. Easy to say, but with advice you can smother, If you never give in it is possible to recover. 10 years on from that day I wished I died, Many a cathartic tear I have cried. I chose to live and my tears have all dried. Determination and courage are how I survived. 08/03/2018. 10 Years Ago
