Morning Dew
We’ve bathed in the Sun. Dressed in the tide pulled in by the moon, and chased the stars. We have lived fiercely, and we have lived modestly. We have battled with anger and anguish. We have been emboldened by love and its loyalty. Adventures abound on this spinning ball of miraculous experience; Hearts pumping with tenacity through joy, and strife. Each day is a defining story, that could take up a thousand chapters in a book written by its own characters. But who is left to read it? Perhaps it is both being written, and read simultaneously. Not only because of our own perspective but because of our posterity. The seeds that our ancestors have planted. The children cherished- The cycle continues. The legacies we leave behind carry on the flame, and the smoke flies overhead looking down upon all that has been built. All that is being created. And it’s swept away to the ether. Where Grandma sits by the fire- watching her family stack wood for their Winter. She knits happily rocking in her chair, waiting for her chance to feel the warmth of their hands once again. A single tear falls from her cheek. And in their front yard, the morning dew is born. -James Kelley 2018
