Expressing Emotions
A lot many interactions On those umpteen ‘social’ platforms Exchange of views and ideas Between the two Pouring their ‘hearts’ Or better still ‘minds’ out Wearing your heart on your sleeve Is a complete ‘No, No’, you see Still there’s ‘trust deficit’ In this opaque, false, goody-goody world of appearances ‘Understandings’, ‘Misunderstandings’ ‘Jumping to conclusions’- everything goes Now don’t ask me Amidst all this “Where are the emotions”? As true emotions and words can clear the air But you see people are clever, emotions are trained Given ‘thinking space’ in the mind Worse, language is kept aside And we are made to go back to Those pre-language days of signs and gestures Emotions expressed from the other side- A laughing and weeping emoji at the same time To let confusion reign supreme And keep different possibilities open (Even a laughing emoji, in context, may not make any sense) ‘Folded hands’ Expressing ‘thankfulness’ and ‘enough’ simultaneously To keep the other person guessing So, in this complex world You also better not look for straightforward answers Express your emotions the ‘emoji’ way Language be damned!
