Sobriety
SOBRIETY Starting my day with sobriety is a challenge I solely accept as my feet hit the floor Obstacles overtime have me stumbling, falling down, and looking up to see who’s around Better days surely await me if I can just break free from the old places, people and habits luring me back Rundown houses, skin and bones, not wanting to be left alone, plagued with fear, reminding myself that’s not who I want to be Isolating myself from the past, slowly making some new friends, but I’m afraid to let them into the my past Every day I feel a little stronger, happier with the new me emerging Today’s darkness has engulfed me with shame. Caving into an old friend in need, trapped I spin around doing my good deed. Self-image shattered no one to blame but ME Yesterdays gone, brokenheartedly I confessed to my son, begged for forgiveness, a weeping rest in his arms, tomorrow is day one
