Age Tell No More Lies
I had heard grandeur speeches of wisdom and power Eternal tales of grandeur and glory legends WHISPERING through the times of days Since I have sprouted, grey I've become such legends are smoke, fading with distance and a 'striving after the wind' WELCOMED-AGE, WHERE IS YOUR SPLENDOUR NOW? Have I not been patient I know gentler tales that have been kinder and the years more brutal than truthful The time dilation and empty spaces, chronic aches and endless boredom Fading memories with stale hearings a eager spirit but a failing body Where was my promised crown earned through perspiration of living Where is the glory and splendor If only our voices were melodic and our words carried more weight How we would DISPEL these tales and pummel through progress Yet age kept on backbiting injecting through its virulent fangs extruding all the knowledge to share subjugating all my pleasures I found myself in lost Wanting of the youth I wasted, pondering upon my crown The lies that I was fed, Lies that I now bear, my crown of thorns, a MARTYR's crown
