Why am I hated?

I asked the wind if it knew why

the world won’t look me in the eye.

It brushed my hair with dusty hands,

and whispered things I don’t understand.

I asked the sky, “what did I do?”

It only thundered, cold and blue.

The clouds just watched the buildings bleed,

and rained on roots that have no seed.

I asked the stars, but they were gone,

their empty space just lingered on.

They used to blink when I would pray

now even light has turned away.

I asked the sea, “do you still care?”

but even waves won’t travel there.

They stop before the shattered shore,

afraid to see what was before.

I asked the world, “why can’t you see

I’m just a child, like yours could be?”

No one answered. Not a sound.

Just broken streets and trembling ground.

So I will ask again tonight,

before I fade beneath the light—

if hearts can break and still forgive,

please tell me why

I’m not allowed to live.

The poetic structure is elegant and sensitive, and moving. The content is heavily laden with subjectivity and self-focus. I guess it seems harsh to say in response to such desperate pain, but I feel the poet needs to find an interface with society to allow his/her experience to develop some revelatory meaning for the reader. The poet's experience needs to have some point of resonance with those whom he/she expects to appreciate it. Sort of a "lesson" or "moral" to be developed. Hope this means something.

Not sure what you mean but the basis behind this poem is from a child’s perspective when their homeland is at war. For example Palestinian children in Gaza

You have to start with self. It's okay your kids hate you and your wife divorce you and your dog ran away from home. They are all better off without you because they know you hate yourself and I know you hate yourself too. So you should just embrace it and spend a few minutes every day looking in the mirror and telling yourself all the hateful things about yourself over and over until you make yourself cry. When you get done crying go over to the toilet get some cold water out of it Splash it on your face and continue on with your hateful life. I hate you now because I'm just trying to fit in. You know what I'm saying your wife hates you your kids hate you dog hate you you hate you so I hate you too.

Hey friend , your poetry hits right at the heart if read sincerely word by word. It made me feel the pain behind each phrase and those very delicately chosen words of yours. What you wrote is something pristine and divine. My sympathy and consolation be with you whenever you go through such bitterly harsh times. Just know that you are never alone. I read one page conveying to me. It said " I realized that revealing my darkness is just as beautiful and natural thing to do as revealing my light. And through it I hope to find a way into the hearts of others " And you are doing that.
