Folds-Poem

Folds

Sometimes I wonder if in another strand of time,

You are just learning to write your name

Wearing your first pair of tiny glasses

Laughing in a sunlit kitchen

Or chasing flies to make kites with your brother.

In another fold, maybe you are leaning into love’s beginning with wide eyes.

Watching a pretty girl walk out a door,

Unknowingly,

Changes the shape of your forever.

Maybe you are holding your firstborn

Marveling at how small hands can carry so much eternity.

And if time truly folds,

Then somewhere else, you are holding me too.

Pressing kisses to my cheek or

Reminding me after my first heartbreak, pain softens and love

Never ends.

The distance aches.

I move through this life with a hollow in my chest

Waiting for the thread that ties us to pull taut again.

Because I believe time is not a straight line

But a circle wide as the cosmos

And no matter how far we drift,

Our orbits will cross again.

And when they do, I will know the gravity of home by the way it feels to see you

Again.

I keep waiting for the moment when all these threads

Of time bend back.

When our stories align once more and l find myself

Finally

On the same side of time with you.

Time, somewhere in it endless turning,

We are still finding each other.

Again and Again.

Life after Life.

Love after Love
