Tri Cube Form

Posted by Oliver Mckeithan on 7/19/2025 5:20:47 PM

A tri cube form is 3 syllables per line, 3 lines per stanza and 3 stanzas per poem.

I find it forces me to think and write succinctly. Here is one I have written. Each line does not have to be a separate thought.

Finding Joy

I find joy

in simple

things of life

new mornings

writing poems

singing songs

I don’t need

fancy toys

nor much wealth

TriCubes is a syllabic form introduced by the USA journalist, Phillip Larrea. Each line contains 3 syllables; each stanza contains 3 lines; and each poem contains 3 stanzas. There are no rules regarding rhymes, metre, etc. Each stanza reads like a phrase (not disjoined clauses), and the complete poem is written on the same topic.

I like your tri cube form Oliver. It's neat.
