Unrequited love

Everything

I want your normal.

I want your boring.

I want your every day.

I want your imperfects.

I want to be your comfort, your shoulder to cry on.

I want to be there when you are down.

I want to be there when you are sick.

I want to be there for the highs and the lows.

You keep me at a distance,

but close with your words.

You are wrecking me

and you don’t even know it.

You probably think you are sparing me

…but you’re not.

You keep me just close enough for me to want to stay but far enough away to make me feel stupid.

Why

Do

I

Even

Bother?

We have been here before.

I have read this chapter

is it time to close the book?

Is it worth keeping the option open?

What makes this time different?

I love you and I hate you.

I wish I knew what I don’t know about you

But I don’t know much about your life.

Our time apart

It makes me sad that I can love someone so but not get to know them,

not even a little bit

not even at all…

I want your everything

but instead I get

your after thoughts

your empty promises

your sometimes

your silence

But it isn’t enough

You’re losing me, but the question is did you ever really have me to begin with?

I want your everything but I get your nothing.

All I have are

my doubts

my tears

my feelings

and all I want is your

everything

I think a piece like this resonates with anyone who has ever been in love. Can you truly trust that you are what your significant other tells you that you are? Good piece of writing.
