“In your light I learn how to love. In your beauty, how to make poems. You dance inside my chest where no-one sees you, but sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art.” Rumi "Whypt Syllabubs" ROMANCE is a feast hungry for Eros delights sweet nothings that do tease fingertips are running a riotous slow and gentle race riding bareback warm black stallion hold tight onto the mane no need to hold the reins Godiva reigns, shining in the Light let loose rides wild and free onto rail tracks head wet towards a raging train gone off the cliff lost into tempestuous sea Little deaths, shimmering pearls shaking legs and holy trembling earthquakes brings you to your knees Rapture ropes its silky way around your naked waist further on down towards your urgent ever present pleas you’re laid to waste dripping honey in a barren state of grace you think you’re home free but you’re nowhere near home base It’s a pantomime of hummingbirds and buzzing bees your mind's fevered it flies with soaring condors not defeated way up in the clouds your skin draped in rain and glistening diamonds welcoming such sweet disgrace a smile forever on your face Whipt Syllabubs whisked up to a froth Passion fruit devoured floating on sweet wine spoon by spoon tasting lips divine a quart of thick cream two ripe Seville oranges gently squeezed half a pint of sack pound double refined sugar whisk it very well fill your Chalice full as the froth rises take it all off spoon until you’re full Rosemary licks and Thyme “Whypt Syllabubs” You whisper, delicious lips that roam and linger gaze into two eyes your ardent love-spent warrior familiar “Sweet Valentine, You're Mine” (Lovejoy-Burton/Feb 2018) 1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EV_lBI9XPgo 2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mk1TWpRJ4OQ 3. Reading: For my daughter, Georgia and anyone else who is interested in learning more about Love and Lust. My favourite man, so far, in the reading realm, D.H. Lawrence, "Lady Chaterley's Lover", EBOOK for your pleasure and further education (should you not have had the privilege to read this fine story). My first read at 19 years of age - ah, the adventures it led me on! Discovered in a packed bookshelf, floor to ceiling, wall to wall, in the arms of a home much loved and lead by a quiet, solitary man, in the sweltering hot Summer of a bucolic small rural town in Queensland, Australia. This lack lustre poem is mine, but the story link to E-BOOK here is his and although his dreams were with her in heaven, he reached out to D.H. Lawrence, this was the sign of a true romantic and obviously blood runs through the genes; now that would be an interesting conversation over dinner, should there end up to be a Heaven and I eventually meet him, the other or both, for discourse.
