Poem

In a nest was a baby sparrow
His mother had gone for food worms
Of his open beak was  a show
Of his first love in different forms

Cats lurked; too young to fly away
To venture in the wild and  heartless
Mother came to chase them away
Much like his face his love was faceless

From the green boughs sparrow songs came
Of much food and joy he dreamt on land
Heavenly love would be the same
When he grew up and flew in his band

But  when he first flew above  trees
Billowing smoke spoiled the air he breathed
Drought killed the worms on which he'd feed
Pesticides poisoned beetles and bees

He and I shared the same green place
Cheerfully  in our poem and song
Our tune and rhyming were the same
But our love songs would not last long

Disease and nasty pollution
Are making the world wild and unsafe
Nature and man in destruction
Are causing loss to our landscape

Decline in blosoms for the bee
Fall in Nature's fragrance are rising
Among those that weep is Beauty
The young sparrow's grief is still growing

The mango tree provided us
Shade in summer heat and secret roost
Now smoky vehicles choke us
For asthama and cancer to boost
